Deeply Appreciate Everything

I truly believe appreciation is the most powerful force in the universe. If we look inside any one thing, we can find every thing else. We can find our mother and father within every other being – how can we not love everyone when this is the case?

[0:01] Let's practice.

[0:27] Taking our seats. With this gentle uprightness. We sit tall, spine erect, spacious. With this view of a monarch. But also with a gentle, open, broken heart. Part of the world. Not trying to prove anything to anyone. Not needing to. And also not needing to hide any part of ourselves. From ourselves or anyone else. Open because we can be. Open. Because why shouldn't we be. And feeling that openness in our body. In our chest. Our shoulders. Our heart. Our belly. Relaxing. Moving into this openness.

[3:31] And feeling a direct connection with all that is around us. There's so much right here in the space around us.

[4:17] Feeling our appreciation. Allowing our heart to open. Thinking about an object. Right near us. Maybe there's a desk table near us. Feeling into all that is gone into the creation. The craftsman who designed this table. The many hours this person studied, practiced, trained. In woodsmanship. In design. In craft.

[5:53] Many late nights perhaps. Practicing, studying. Creating a design. And workers. Worked on. Sanding. Planing. Cutting. Molding. Polishing. Varnishing. Somebody made. Perhaps a drawer. Somebody designed the handle. Made it so that we can open and close smoothly.

[7:17] And the desk was brought to us. Perhaps from nearby. Perhaps from across an ocean. People involved in driving vehicles. Steering ships through the oceans.

[8:07] Who cut the wood. And who cut the wood. Getting their lives.

[8:33] People involved in making the glue. The tiny little screws. Opening our heart. And just loving appreciation for all those that contributed to this one object. That is part of our lives now.

[9:40] And taking something else that is right in front of us. Perhaps something we are sitting on. The doorknob of a door. The bed we sleep in. And really cultivate. A sense of appreciation. Every little thing or big thing we take for granted. When we slow down enough to really see it. Feel the depth of appreciation. Available. In everything. And allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by appreciation.

[14:13] In a glass of water. Who made the glass? Who gathered the sand? Who designed the shape? The workers in the sanitation department? Who built the pipes in the building? Who built the pipes across the city? Who made the pipes? Who designed the filters? As we look and allow our heart to open in appreciation, everything contains everything else. And everyone else.

[16:30] Everyone we encounter.

[16:54] They have fed us. They have closed us. They have given us water. They have been our mother, our father.
