[0:02] So, let's practice.
[0:30] So, just taking our seat, following the basic instructions, arranging our body, uplifting our spine, whatever and however that works for us, taking our seat in the world, in this uplifted and relaxed, open chest, open heart, strong back, posture. Our human role is joining heaven and earth, being held and connected to ground, just as we reach toward the sky.
[2:01] Allowing ourselves to come towards stillness. Which is not really stillness. It's more this beautiful, slow, natural rhythm of life. of the breath.
[2:53] very alive, very awake. and being with each breath, as we breathe out. mixing with space. Resting in the open awareness that is at the end of every breath.
[3:50] and just giving ourselves the gift of this time and this space.
[5:33] And by staying closely, precisely, intimately with each breath as we breathe out, it's like a doorway to space.
[6:29] If our mind is particularly racy or distracted, we can stay with the breath all the way in and all the way out. If we're a little more settled, we can stay with the breath going out and then rest in space while the body breathes in on its own.
[10:52] Just bringing curiosity and humor. Or, ah, we've been thinking. And that's not a problem. It only becomes a problem when we make it a problem. So, we just go, ah, thinking. And we come back to following the breath. And indeed, this is the very point of practice. So, it's not at all a problem. In fact, it's a beautiful opportunity. And then again, just stay with the breath going out. And rest in space. Giving yourself this gift. Of time. Of space. Of slowing to this natural rhythm.
[18:25] To stay with whatever comes up. Feel whatever comes up. And then it's workable.
[19:08] Giving ourselves this gift of time and space.
