Reality Creation Loop
A practical three-step process (Notice, Become Willing, Place Attention on What You Want) that interrupts unconscious patterns and enables conscious reality creation — the core practice for shifting from automatically recreating the past to actively creating your desired reality.
The Reality Creation Loop is a practical three-step process you can use many times a day to transform any area of your life.
Step 1: Notice. At any given moment your current way of being is dominant. Your mind and body are perfect reflections of what you have been practicing, usually unconsciously. The practice is to notice where your attention is — to suddenly realize, for example, that you've been thinking about how bad you look, or judging someone, or recreating old patterns. This moment of noticing is the moment of becoming conscious.
Step 2: Become Willing. Our usual strategy when we notice is to just go right back to the old pattern. We think it won't work, it doesn't matter, we'll do it next time, it's too hard right now. To do this step we have to decide to do something different anyway, despite all the reasons not to.
Step 3: Place your Attention on What You Want. Put your attention on what you want to be, right now, not later. If you want to be connected, be connected. If you want to be happy, be happy. Even if it's just a tiny fraction of one second, that is perfect. Then let an action flow from that being.
This loop is how you shift from unconscious creation — where you recreate the past over and over — to conscious creation, where you are actively choosing what reality to create. Much of the time we operate in a fog, on auto-pilot, creating our lives based on whatever choices we made in the past. We are not actually remembering past events but reinventing them each time. When we want change, we must stop recreating the past in the present and instead develop a future-present orientation.
The more you practice the loop, the faster your new reality comes into existence. Each of the three steps is an actual practical skill that improves with practice, just like any physical skill.

The Power of Beginning Again: A Practice for Peace and TransformationThe Reality Creation Loop gives you the precise mechanism for Beginning Again—Notice, Become Willing, Place Attention. Let's put it into practice.
Slow DownNoticing comes first. In stillness the speed of your mind shows itself, and what we notice, we can work with. Then willingness: we rush because we keep choosing to rush. Come practice making a different choice, one breath at a time.
